One Word Film🎥

The One Word Film editing project had us create a short film that would represent a word assigned to us beforehand. In pairs, we came up with a story to accurately portray this word, we filmed every shot needed, and edited in a way that would further help our meaning.

My partner and I were assigned the word "anxious," so we started thinking of scenarios where we, ourselves, felt anxious within the school setting. We reached the conclusion that the best situation we could represent in a film was that of trying to talk to another student that we do not know. We both had very similar ideas of the way most shots would look but having to do the storyboard between the both of us helped us see what the other person was visualizing and agree on what we both thought would work best. It's very difficult trying to explain to someone else what you mean when explaining what you're visualizing, and drawing it out was the best way we could've explained it to the other.

The project was filmed with an iPhone camera and edited through the Adobe Express editing program.

I think that our story was great visual representation of the word "anxious." It describes a situation that many teenagers could find themselves in in a school. Our shots capturing this story were also, for the most part, a job done rather well with the exception of a couple that I would do a little differently now that I've seen the final piece. These included a couple of stills of the second character that I think could be done better. Finally, I think the editing could be improved. We used a very simple program due to our lack of knowledge in many editing skills so I think that our editing ended up very simple, which is something I would like to work on so my next project looks better.
